Four Controls
Drape
Drape controls how much processing is applied to your sound, like pulling more of the curtain across it. Turn it up to soften sharper edges and apply more of the effect.
Pile
Pile controls how thick and dense the curtain feels. Higher settings make the effect heavier, softer, and more diffused, while lower settings keep it lighter and more transparent.
Color
Color changes the character of the curtain itself. Each section gives Velvet Curtain a different tonal personality.
See details on Color below.
Mix
Mix controls the final balance between your original sound and the processed sound. At 0% you hear only the original; at 100% you hear the full Velvet Curtain output.
All the Colors
-
The most natural and restrained setting. Smooths and softens without pushing the sound too far from where it started.
-
Adds warmth, weight, and a fuller midrange presence. Thick and satisfying without getting overly aggressive.
-
Bright, energized, and slightly charged. Adds bite, movement, and a more animated edge.
-
Textured, organic and a bit unruly. Introduces a woody, buzzing quality that can make sounds feel alive.
-
Smooth and flowing. Gives the signal a slippery, almost fluid sense of movement.
-
Airy, spacious and dreamlike. Pushes the sound into a more shimmering, otherworldly space.
Plays Well With Others
Build a sound however you like. Then pull the curtain across it.
Velvet Curtain works especially well after brighter, harsher, or more aggressive effects, smoothing the edges without erasing what made the chain interesting in the first place.
